Avoid strenuous activity.
No lifting.
No bending over - bend knees instead.
No straining in bathroom. Ask for a stool softener if indicated.
Obtain and use a nasal salt water spray daily.
Follow instruction sheet.
Obtain and use a nasal decongestant as follows:
2 squirts to each nostril in the morning and at night for three days.
2 squirts to each nostril in the morning only for the next three days.
Apply an antibiotic ointment to inside of nose each night until your follow-up visit. Use a humidifier or vaporizer in the bedroom.
If bleeding occurs:
Blow blood out of your nose.
Use a nasal decongestant 12-hour spray.
Keep head up straight.
Squeeze soft part of nostrils together for 10-20 minutes.
If bleeding persists, repeat all steps. If no improvement, call our office or proceed to the emergency room.
